Pigeons

Urban flyers with a digestive problem (on your car)!

Physical characteristics

Urban pigeons (Columba livia domestica) are medium-sized birds, 29-37 cm long with a wingspan of 62-72 cm. They have a stout body, small head, and short legs. Their plumage varies, but is most often grayish-blue with two dark bands on the wings.

Biology and behavior

Pigeons are extremely adaptable to the urban environment. They feed primarily on seeds, but in cities, they also consume human food scraps. They live in large flocks and nest on buildings, bridges, and other urban structures. They can breed throughout the year under favorable conditions.

Harm

Pigeon droppings are corrosive and can damage buildings, monuments, and vehicles. They are carriers of various diseases, including salmonella and avian flu. Their nests can clog gutters and attract other pests like fleas and ticks.

What you can do

Avoid feeding pigeons. Install physical barriers like nets or spikes in places where pigeons perch. Seal potential nesting sites. Regularly clean areas contaminated with droppings, using appropriate protective gear.

Professional control

Our approach to pigeon control includes a combination of methods. We install deterrent systems such as nets, spikes, and electric wires. We use visual and auditory repellents. If necessary, we apply humane bird relocation methods. We also offer comprehensive environmental modification plans to make your property less attractive to pigeons.
